At Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms, for 30 years, our goal is the vertical production and packaging of natural olive products, with the highest possible quality.
In order to achieve this goal, we have focused on our education, training and specialization in the production process, through training, seminars, study and experimentation.
Additionally, a key factor for the production of top quality olive products is the commitment in the field of food safety and hygiene.
Every company that is active in food production, is obliged under the European regulations 852/2004 and 178/2002 to meet specific conditions and to apply rules concerning the safety and hygiene of food.
It is no longer enough for a food to be simply tasty or natural, but it should be produced in facilities that follow specific standards of quality but also of food safety and hygiene. This ensures that a food is safe for consumption and meets the quality standards during its production.
A common factor in all these regulations is the implementation of the HACCP system. The HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards from production, supply and the handling of raw materials, the production, distribution and consumption of the final product.
Based on the HACCP system we can predict the risks and the possibility of their occurrence at each level of the production process of a certain food. A company that implements HACCP system, documents that it complies with the relevant national and Community legislation, while at the same time it can avoid any wrong practices, reduces its failures and also faces any food crises.
ISO 22000 : 2018
ISO 22000:2018 is an international standard developed by the technical committee ISO / TC 34 "Food products" and sets the requirements for the implementation of a food safety and hygiene management system, in order for food chain businesses, regardless of size and complexity, to be able to demonstrate their ability to produce safe food.
The new version of the ISO 22000: 2018 standard has been implemented and replaces the older version of 2005.
The logic that applies to all stages and applications of ISO 2200: 2018 is: safe food from production to consumption (from farm to fork), through the application of good hygiene practices and complete traceability.
The ISO standard, which incorporates all of the HACCP principles, ensures that the company implementing it consistently provides safe end products that meet the requirements of applicable food safety regulations, through state-of-the-art food safety management, risk control and quality optimization.
This standard is recognized worldwide, throughout the food supply chain and is one of the strictest standards in a business or industry, setting specific quality standards and targets for each food produced.
Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms have been applying the ISO 22000: 2005 standard for many years and have now been certified for the implementation of the new ISO 22000: 2018 standard, meeting all the requirements.
FDA Registration
Any company that wants to produce food that will be exported to the United States of America must meet certain specifications in order to be registered with the FDA.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) is the food regulatory body of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Thus, the FDA requires facilities that produce, process, package, or store food for consumption in the United States to submit additional registration information to a specific registry, with a unique facility identification number. It also has the ability to inspect the facility, at any time, for implementation and compliance with the current standards.
The facilities of Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms have been certified for many years and are recognized by the FDA of USA, with registration number 15959229376.
Alphanumeric Approval Number - Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food
According to European Regulation (EC) 1019/2002, from 2009 onwards, all companies that are involved with the packaging of virgin olive oils, olive oils and olive pomace oils, are required to have an approval and to be provided with an alphanumeric identification number by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. This number of the form EL 40 X X X must appear on the product label.
The procedure stipulates that on-the-spot inspections are carried out, along with administrative inspections, in order to verify whether or not the conditions for the issuance of this number are met, in accordance with the legislation.
The facilities of Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms have been approved by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food with an alphanumeric approval number EL 40 889.
Organic farming certification
For organic products, the appropriate legal framework has been established and it is applied not only to the primary (plant and animal production units) but also to the secondary sector (processing, packaging, disposal of agricultural products), in order to ensure compliance with the obligations of the legislation that applies to the organic production of plant and animal products, their processing, labeling and marketing.
This enables those engaged in the production, packaging, processing or marketing of organic products, after the inspection process, to obtain official recognition / certification that they have complied with the current obligations governing these products.
Moreover, in this way, the credibility of the organic products in front of the consumer public is increased, the brand name of these products is ensured and transparency is ensured at all stages of the production process.
The control, evaluation and certification of the processes of production, manufacturing and import of organic products, in order to clarify whether the requirements of the current National and Community Legislation are met, are undertaken by the Control and Certification Bodies.
Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms apply from their establishment, a certified organic cultivation, certified by the control and certification body BIO - HELLAS, in accordance with all European regulations on organic agriculture, with code 42067.

After its registration, the company becomes a "registered exporter". A REX number is assigned to the company and this number must be indicated on the preferential origin documents.
Sakellaropoulos Organic Farms are registered in the international REX system concerning the agreement between Canada and the European Union, as well as of Great Britain, with registration number GRREX0700A152892594.
